It has been an amazing year for us at Open Arms. We have had the pleasure of seeing some of our girls return home and some to loving foster families.
The girls have had some incredible opportunities thanks to our community and it’s love for their children! Here are just a few highlights…
Last Summer, Open Arms paired up with “Wake the World”, an organization that provides a day out on the water to kids in care. The girls learned how to water ski and wake board. They were so exhausted that the next day they didn’t wake up until noon! They loved this experience; we look forward to doing it again!
In the Fall, the girls had a blast at the Halloween Festival in Downtown Blue Ridge. The Fall also brought Homecoming for the residents in High School. Some of them went stag and others had a date. It was a treat helping the girls pick out their outfits.
The Winter has brought us a bountiful Thanksgiving including decorating the house for Christmas.
Thank you to all of our generous donors! Your commitment to these girls allows us to provide them with more than their basic needs!
We’d like to welcome our new director, Sharon Hanna. Sharon comes to us from Cincinnati, Ohio where she was a teacher for over 20 years. She has been with us since April and looks forward to many years at Open Arms.
Georgia CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) works diligently with Georgia’s children who have been removed from their homes on account of neglect or abuse. For years, CASA volunteers have helped find healthy, permanent homes for children in the state’s foster care system and put their lives back on track.
CASA volunteers aim to represent Georgia’s children on an individual level, to identify a child’s specific situation and needs, and help them into a brighter future.
